Researchers from Sungkyunkwan University and Southern Illinois University analyzed about 3.19 million tax filings by 2.24 million users of the tax platform Samjeomsam (operated by Jobis & Villains), covering June 2023 to May 2026. Among first-time users, 45% filed at least one late filing or amended claim beyond their regular filing, and about 57.6% filed on weeknights or weekends. The median filing time for new paying users fell from about 1 day in 2024 to about 20 minutes in 2026, and the researchers assessed such platforms as a 'complementary digital infrastructure' rather than a replacement for existing tax systems.
